Of all 50 states, New York has one of the best Freedom Of Information Laws on the books. Unfortunately, state law buts the burden (cost) on the requester and those denying documents are well aware that hiring a lawyer for an Article 78 is very expensive.

 

The suggestions listed below are designed to close loop holes and but the burden where it belongs, on those denying documents.
