Legal Actions & Settlements

Top  Previous  Next

Legal actions vs a taxing authority and subsequent settlement should be required to be made public.

This can be easily accomplished without disclosing details of the legal action.

This is important since a taxing authorities's insurance may not cover the court settlement and/or there may be settlement costs the taxing authority is responsible for paying.

State law should also require the taxing authority to file the legal action with the county clerk. Transparency first!

Public discussion of these costs to taxpayers is too often swept under the carpet.
